Canada Passport Photo Acceptance Checklist
To avoid rejection at embassy or passport processing offices, verify these mandatory guidelines.
Neutral Facial Expression
Keep your face neutral with both eyes open and mouth closed. Smiling with teeth showing, grimacing, or frowning causes immediate rejection by automated biometric gates.
Centering & Head Orientation
Face the camera squarely at eye level. Do not tilt your head up, down, or to the side. Both edges of your face and both ears should be visible without angle distortion.
No Glasses (Recommended)
Remove eyeglasses before taking your photo. Eyeglasses cause lens glare, reflection, and frame obstruction around the eyes, which are top causes for application delays.
Headwear & Hijab Rules
Hats and casual headbands are strictly prohibited. Religious head coverings (such as hijabs or turbans) are accepted provided your full facial oval from chin to crown is visible.
Balanced, Shadow-Free Lighting
Illuminate your face with even, natural light. Ensure there are no harsh shadows under your nose, across your cheeks, or behind your ears. EasyPassPhoto cleans background shadows automatically.
Attire & Contrast
Wear everyday street clothing in contrasting dark or vibrant colors. Avoid white tops (which blend into white backgrounds) and uniforms or camouflage apparel.
